Janice was born and raised in Milwaukee, Wisconsin and moved to the West Coast in her early twenties. She has studied fine art at the University of Wisconsin (Milwaukee), the University of California (Sonoma State), the University of Nevada (Reno) as well as with several private instructors.
Janice has won numerous awards in juried art shows and competitions nationwide and has shown her work in both group and solo exhibitions. She has been the recipient of several grants throughout her career, including the Helen EllisTrust Fund Grant which was used to create the winning design for Westport, Massachusetts' first town flag since it's incorporation in 1787. Janice was awarded an official sitation in recognition of her outstanding artistic abilities.
Janice has won several honors from the Massachusetts Department of Fisheries and Wildlife's Waterfowl Stamp Competition for her fine paintings. She has taken third place and second place twice in this highly regarded national competition.
Janice has donated her time and talents to many worthy causes, such as the Make A Wish Foundation, Ducks Unlimited, The Massachusetts Coalition for the Homeless, and the Westport River Watershed Alliance.
Janice is currently a member of the American Society Of Marine Artists, the International Society of Marine Painters (Professional Member), and The Westport Art Group. Janice is also listed in Who's Who Of American Women, as well as Who's Who Of American Artists.
Janice now lives and works in the beautiful fishing and farming village of Westport, Massachusetts, where the Ocean and Nature in all of its beauty is at her beckoned call.
